The MAM bottle is unscrewed and taken apart to make it easier to clean. This makes it easy to rinse the individual parts with water and a mild cleaning agent. All individual parts become hygienically clean in any steriliser. Sterilisation before each use of the bottle is particularly important for newborns. At this age, all you need to do is sterilise the bottle and the teat occasionally. If the baby is ill, the bottle should be sterilised again every single day. This method is completely sufficient and safe.

For the best results, please follow all instructions carefully and use only as directed. Step 1: Assemble clean bottle parts as follows: base with silicone valve, teat with screw ring, bottle body and protective cap. Step 2: Fill the base with silicone valve with 20 ml of cool water. The protective cap makes a practical measuring cup. Step 3: Place the screw ring with teat in the bottle base. Place the bottle body on it optionally screw in slightly to avoid pouring out hot water by removing the bottle from microwave.

Place the protective cap on top. The contents of the bottle must not boil — so do not pour any boiling liquids into it! Before feeding begins, the bottle should be dried using a clean cloth. Simply remove the cap, ring and teat and warm up the MAM bottle in the microwave.

After heating, stir around so that the heat is evenly distributed. Before baby begins to eat any food, check the temperature and then baby can begin eating. For hygiene reasonsthe teats should be replaced at regular intervals. Simply check the teat each time you are about to use the bottle — especially when baby already has teeth — and replace it when the first signs of damage or weak points become apparent.

Yesbecause the innovative protective cap ensures that the liquid remains in the bottle. My LO is 13 wks and have graduated on to size 3 teats as he kept falling asleep on the bottle with size 2s. He has a size 2 at bedtime still because he's too tired to cope with the fast flow of 3 Anywho, I had one pack of size 3 so went to pick up 2 more packs.

When I got home I noticed tiny writing saying 'spill-free'. LO can't get any milk out of these teats. They're a new design. They'll be good for when LO is learning to self feed but while he's young he can not get anything out of them. They seem to need pressure squeezing the teat down for the hole to open. Where as the original design is an open hole I hope that makes sense. I complained to MAM and asked them to send me the old design and they did and asked for the spill-free ones I bought from boots to be sent back to them for analysis.

Good outcome for me in the end but just thought is give you a heads up. Original poster's comments 2. I had the same problem but got no where with mam guna give them another email I love the mam bottles and wasn't looking forward to having to change just because the next size tests are rubbish x.

Im still using my 2's but was thinking of trying the next size, think ill hold off for a bit now. I take it you can't buy the old design anywhere now?

Anyone tried the variflow, are they better than the 3's? U might be able to get the old style from eBay but be sure to contact the seller first. I emailed MAM customer service and the email subject was 'complaint' if that helps you?

Exactly same happened to me bought 3 pairs off amazon and they all have a cross, no hole. LO can't get anything out of them. I will ring mam tomorrow, do you think this is a fault in design?

How are babies going to get milk out. The lady I got an email back from said they're for when babies are older and they're learning to self feed - that's a great idea but they should be an additional size 3 teat not a new design to replace the old ones!!!

They just don't work for smaller babies. I was quite forward in my email and said 'can you send me the old style teat' in a demanding way, and they asked me to forward the new style back, which I did. If enough people complain I think they'll do something. Defo raise it as a "complaint" though.

Bottle Teats & Accessories

I too have had the same problem. Searches online, but couldn't see anyone complaining about them. Thank goodness it's not me. I had brought bottles with the size 3 teats, but after an hour of feeding and poor baby had only managed a couple of oz!

I gave up, but when she did the same on her next feed, I figured it must be the bottle and tried to suck some out myself- it was impossible! Ended up swapping the teats with some size 2's, but I'm going to complain to- they're useless! More posts in "May Birth Club" group. Do I give um time for her to get the hang of um or swop bk?? Original poster's comments 1. Mine took a couple of days to get used to them.

I persevered as he wasn't taking much on the size 2's and feeding had really dropped off. I also tipped the teat slightly so it wasn't full of milk to slow it down a little until he got used to it. Personally I'd swap back for a while. Maybe try them again in a week or so. I'm not even off size 1. I tried size 2 and he kept choking. I might just moved him straight to a cup in a few months. I'm on dr brown size 3's already. And I have mam bottles and swap teats.

Do you have the self sterilse ones? As I found the air needs to escape first as the milk squirts out the end even on dr brown teats. If not just swap back I just persevered though I just had too keep her on size twos in the morning for a few days as she was guzzling it and being sick then 3's the rest of the day. Kezz89 is there much difference between Dr browns size two and three? My lo is 20 weeks and thinking about going up to next size but not sure?

So at six months up til one year are we supposed to get babies taking their formula from sippy cups? Thanks ladies the size 3 have gone bk in cupboard was far too fast prob try um closer too 6 months!! Few splutters but that it. I had to phase it in though for about a week I had too leave morning and night at size 2 until she became upset and slow with them then size 3 for all of them now.

But in the morning I have too stop half way too burp her otherwise she throws up as she gets excited and guzzles it haha. I tried it during the day first and had a size two teat made up ready too swap and took it from there :.
